| American Portrait Miniature
 Presented here, a very fine Miniature Watercolor Portrait on Ivory of a very handsome gentleman of some means and import. Unlike most miniatures that we encounter, this particular one has a painted background that we usually see in full portraits. The swagged drapery, the open window with a glimpse of a tree and the marble column all add to the visual interest of the piece. The coloration is more like the top photo. The camera is playing tricks in the photo below but I include it so you can see the fantastic detail. 
Size is 3-1/2 inches x 4-1/4inches (framed), and the oval insert is 1-3/4 inches x 2-1/8". Circa 1830-40, the portrait is in excellent condition with no issues that need mentioning.
