6 Light Wrought Iron Pricket Sconce
Presented here, a rarity in the world of early lighting! It is beautifully crafted of hand wrought iron and a wonderful example of the Art of the Blacksmith. Two "arms", each having three pricket Candle Holders are fastened to a central shaft that would be driven into a masonery chink or a beam. Each of the candle holders has twelve "petals". It is elegant in it's simplicity yet a very effective device that would serve the purpose of providing quite a bit more light than a single sconce. It measures 27" wide x 16" long x 9" tall to the top of the candle spikes.

It is in excellent, untouched, original condition with no repairs or restoration. While there is some minor surface rust as would be expected for a piece of this age, the patina is very nice. It looks exactly as we would expect it to look and we guarantee its authenticity and age. We would conservatively date this to the mid 18th century but it could just as easily be earlier. Its rarity makes it impossible to compare to another. Where are you going to find another? Provenance is the E. Dreyfus Collection of Sturbridge Village, Mass. This is one of the greatest pieces of early lighting we have had the pleasure to present and it would be a stellar addition to any collection of early lighting or perfect for use as it was intended, in a wall, over a table, burning brightly and providing wonderful candlelight.
