Miniature 18th C. Double Candle Lighting Device
Presented here, a very, very special rarity . . . a miniature double candle lighting device with adjustable vertical wood screw and threaded wood cross piece. Beautifully hand turned base and screw . . . The screw is black walnut, a fixed insert into the maple burl base. It is in its original unfinished condition . . . i.e. "original dry surface" with a wonderful patina that only time can impart. Provenance: A Maine household, then a private collection. Overall condition is high outstanding with only 1 small, (less than 1 inch) line in the turned stem. Size is a mere 7-1/4" tall.

This is a functional piece of treen artistry. Design and execution are both laudable. If you believe that "A thing of beauty is a joy forever." then this one has a long life ahead, since its beauty will only grow on one. It is one of those special pieces that comes along once in a lifetime. It will be a stellar addition to any collection of early lighting or of Treen. Circa, early 1800's, possibly late 1700's.
