Wrought Iron Betty Holder
Presented here, a very fine wrought iron 18th C. Beam Spike Betty or Crusie Lamp Holder. This is the "real deal" Folks, and we absolutely guarantee it! It is a super example of the art of the blacksmith and is asthetically pleasing to the eye.

These decorative devices were placed strategically around the house so a lamp could be carried from one place to another and hung to light an area that was being used at the time, thus not making it necessary to have a lamp for each holder. It is quite obvious from the decorative elements found here that it was used in a wealthier environment or a public house as plain, straightforward "beam spikes" sufficed for the masses, especially around the hearth.

It measures 6-1/2" deep from the tip of the spike to the curl of the hook and is 7" wide and 8" high. The color and patina are wonderful with very little surface rust. The condition is excellent!
