Yellow Ware Pitcher with Fabulous Bi-Color Dendritic Seaweed Decoration
Presented here, a fabulous Bi-Color Mocha Decorated Yellow Ware Pitcher with Blue and Black Dendritic Seaweed Decoration.
Big, Bold, and Gutsy is the only way to describe this Pitcher and of course, extremely RARE!  It stands 8-1/4" tall and is 7" wide at the widest point. The decoration is that of an artist who was master of his craft and had a great imagination.  Alternate lines of undulating Seaweed in blue and black intersect forming "O's" that terminate in large fronds on a wide Bristol Slip band.  This band is deliniated by double lines of black slip with the yellow ware body showing in the center.

This is one gorgeous Pitcher and would be the highlight of any serious collection of Mocha Decorated Yellow Ware. There is an in-the-making firing line less than 1/2" long off the rim where the spout attaches to the body of the pitcher and another crescent shaped line on the interior of the bottom of the spout. Nothing distracting, but mentioned merely for the sake of accuracy. There has been some excellent professional restoration at the bottom of the pitcher as befits a piece of this importance. The glaze is glassy with light, even craquelure . . . again expected in a piece dating from the 1860's to 1880's.  This the Best of the Best!  You won't be disappointed..
