Double "Bulls Eye" Pewter Lamp Presented here, a fine double "Bulls Eye" Pewter Whale Oil Lamp, circa 1800-1810. Marked "Patent" it is therefore an English export to the U.S. It is in unusually pristine condition for its age. Also called a Lace Makers's Lamp, the lens focuses the available light into a circle providing about a 6"-8" diameter area well lighted at about 12" from the lens. As the distance increases, the circle's area does also, making a good light source for small detail tasks. It stands 8-1/2" high and has a wonderful patina . . . the warm glow of old pewter.
