Portrait of a a Young Woman Attributed to William Mathew Prior Circa 1840 Oil on Academy Board As depicted, an attractive young lady of obvious means, dressed in the style of the day. The work remains in fine original condition and is crisp and clear due in part to its having been stored under glass for years. It is mounted within a period rosewood grain painted frame. An old paper label, since removed, gave an identification of the subject as "Cheney." The label was tacked on a loose-fitting frame that came with the painting but was removed when the painting was placed in a more appropriate frame. (Frame: 15 x 19.25 inches; view: 9.5 x 13.75 inches.) $ R11J285717 Questions? Ask the Ferret!
