17th Century Lollipop Crested Wallbox
Circa 1680-1720, riven native white pine, rosehead nailed, dry original red painted surfaces.  Note the well is constructed from lap siding scraps, tapering from 3/8".  Backboard is 1/2".  "Imperfections" in the well stock are actually derived from the riven process, as opposed to chip losses (red paint within all).  Evidently the backboard became loose, in use, with consequent re-nailing of a few roseheads, and addition of a few later nails. Overall superb original condition, especially considering age, and thinness of well rim stock.  Obviously a homemade production, its dynamic character speaks for itself.  Purchased from a longtime PA collection, although it's most likely of New England origin. Size:  11 1/2"H X 9 3/4"W X 4 5/8"D.
A timeless treasure just ooozing with character . . . You can tell our thermostat is high on this piece of Country Americana! It is beyond fabulous! The best we've ever had! It is what antiques are all about . . . It screams "hold me, touch me" (We've all said that), (wink, wink). If it also says "Be Mine", we can also make that happen.
