Miniature Chest of Drawer
Miniature Chest of Drawers made of pine with vibrant, original flame grained paint. New England origin, C. 1790-1820. Hand slotted backsplash screws, tiny nails, finely dovetailed drawers with chamfered bottoms. Reverse graduated drawers, original knobs with through post joinery, wonderful scrolled high foot and finely tapered foot base. Fabulous condition with only the slightest imperfection. . . an early sliver loss from backside proper left facing backsplash post cap. Obviously the work of an accomplished country craftsman, or quite possibly the work of an apprentice to show the master he's "graduated". It's the nicest miniature chest of drawers I've ever owned. Fresh from a lifetime collection . . . Maine origin. Size: 11 1/8"H (top of post caps), 9"H case x 9"W case x 5 1/4"D.
