Very fine late 18th or early 19th Century tin adjustable candlestand with a cone shaped sand weighted base, with a double spring adjustment device with it original saucer pan with two candle cups all in a wonderful old original and grungy sage green painted surface. New England. Circa 1780-1820.
The cone sand-weighted base is all original with all seams intact as well as the original soldered-on tin fill plug on the base. Minor loss to the paint and some minor old surface rust . . . the surface we expect to see in a piece of that age. This form was made to stand on the floor or used on a table and the iron top carrying hook allowed for it to be carried from place to provide light where needed or even hung from a beam.
34 1/2" tall and 9" across. Adjustment height is from 10" to 32".
