British Creamware Baluster Form Jug
RARE BRITISH CREAMWARE MOCHAWARE JUG, CIRCA 1795. Banded in brown with dark brown dendretic trees and underbrush on a pumpkin slip field. A rather fanciful brown mocha decoration resembling trees above underbrush, perhaps reflecting in water. Condition is very fine with only a couple of flakes on the underside of the bottom and a small flake on the spout mentioned for the sake of accuracy. Height is 9".
Literature: For a discussion regarding this decoration and an illustration, see Jonathan Ricard, "Mocha and Related Diped Wares, 1770-1939" p.50, fig. 63.
