 Wrought Iron Hook Rack

This "knockout" utensil hook rack gets two "tens." One for design and one for skill . . . created by a true artisan.  The prior owner gave its birthplace as Pennsylvania.  None better, circa 1700's

Hook racks were used for hanging those items (Ladles, Skimmers and Forks and Tasting Spoons) used in hearth cooking so they hung close at hand at the fireplace and within easy reach of the cook.  It is sturdily built of hand forged iron and is of a nice small size. It is unusually fine in design and crafting, utilizing the  Crown and "Rams Horn" as a decorative element.  In today's environment it could be used to dry and display flowers or herbs also.    9 inches high and 7-1/2 inches" wide.
