 Wrought Iron Broiler

Dating circa 1750, meat, fish, or bread was placed on the sloping front, resting on the bottom ledge and set facing the fire.  Of very sturdy construction which would necessitate its original use, it is also very graceful due to the decorative iron work.  When not in use it would sit at the hearth as a decorative object.   The easel back extension is in the shape of a fork with a gracefully twisted shaft.  The condition is excellent and the size is 16-1/4" high x 16-1/2" wide.
