Whale Ivory Seabird Cane

Presented here, an exceptional whale ivory carved Sea Bird Cane signed "Jacob Teal - Mate - Edgartown - Mass".  (Edgartown is on Martha's Vinyard).  Two baleen discs and one ivory disc are at the top of the shaft and the signature is on the ivory one.  Baleen "dots" are inlaid around the neck of the bird.  The original brass tip is on the shaft which is an exotic tropical hardwood, probably Partridgewood or Rosewood.  This, a very well done sea going whaler's scrimshaw cane in excellent original condition and is 31" long.
