Coconut Shell Pitcher

Presented here, a scrimshaw pitcher made from a carved Coconut Shell with a Whale Ivory Mermaid handle and pouring spout.  Our little mermaid is posed in a most provocative position and is basically the only ornamentation on the pitcher except for some dots around the rim and an incised line around the base.

The pitcher, dating from the early 1800's is in very fine condition with no splits or cracks. It is 3-1/2" wide and 4" high.
