18th C. Wrought Iron Candle Stand

This Candle Stand must be seen to fully appreciate the creativity, skill and unique design features of the master smith who created it.

For example, each leg has been forged independently in rounded cross section, tapering in thickness to its foot which then is flattened into a foot.  Then each was forge mated to another triangular piece which created the base for a forge tapered shaft that would support the candle holders.   Every element of the holders is heavily and creatively designed and then forge welded also.  The rectangle holding the spring clamps is made in two halves which are forge welded together and extend to the center of the drip tray.  Each of these extends into another circular piece which is flared into another wrought piece in a widened inverted spoon-like shape that fastens the arm, drip pan and cup bottom together.

The cup is a forging as is its bottom and rolled over collar at the top.  Each cup is left with a narrow vertical tapered slit with a diamond shape halfway up which allows a means to eject the candle with a knife blade or similar tool.

We have seen many floor mount candle stands, however none can hold a candle to this one.  All in all, it is massive, superb and unique, standing 59 tall.  It will be the best in any collection.
