Pair 17th C. Wrought Iron Table-Top Candlesticks

Presented here, a pair of 17th Century or early 18th Century Wrought Iron Table Candlesticks with the conical candle sockets of the period.  Made of hand forged iron they are a testimony to the skill of the blacksmith. The cupped drip pan is over-sized, matching its scale with the over-sized tripod base with penny feet. Each of the penny feet are fastened to the drip pan with two forged pins which are then peened at the top and the bottom. The twisted shaft  is fastened to the drip pan and then terminates in the candle socket at the top, wrapped from the beaten sheet iron and taking on the slightly conical form of the period.

From a Connecticut collection, we have left these "Cottage Candlesticks" in "as found condition" . . . wax drippings and all.  In excellent, untouched, original condition with no repairs or restoration.  10" high with a 6" in diameter drip pan.
