Bennington Flint Enamel "Swirled Alternating Rib" Pitcher
We are pleased to present a fabulous Flint Enamel Pitcher in the Swirled Alternate Rib Pattern, 1849-1858, made by the United States Pottery Company, Bennington, Vermont.  According to Barret in Bennington Pottery and Porcelain, this is indeed a very rare pattern.

Big, Bold and Gutsy, it is 10" high.  It is covered with a gorgeous Flint Enamel Glaze, patented in 1849 by Christopher Webber Fenton of Lyman, Fenton & Co, which in that year was to become the United States Pottery Company.  In this technique, powdered metallic oxides were applied to a fired pot, which was then refired.  During the firing the oxides ran together, producing the characteristic finish.  The condition of this pitcher is very fine.  This, the star of any collection or a perfect stand alone piece.  You won't be disappointed!
