Wrought Iron Pendant Double Socket Candleholder
Presented here, a Hand Wrought Iron Double Socket Pendant Candleholder dating circa 1650-1750.  This is a nice early piece in remarkable condition and a great patina.  There is a hanger at the top for hanging and the curlique detail at the bottom adds a decorative touch.  While made of somewhat crude stock as the early pieces were, the blacksmith has "worked his magic" and has elevated this utilitarian item to Folk Art by the addition of his artistic detail. Provenance is from the COTA Collectiona working museum in the northeast, New York, we believe. They were open to the public in an early surroundings, buildings I understand with all the original things it took to conduct life in the 1700 early 1800's I believe.  The museum was taken apart and sold off in 2001."

This is a very special piece of early lighting, probably "one off" and a wonderful addition to a collection of early iron or early lighting.  Size is 17-1/4" tall  x 8-1/4" wide.
