 Adjustable 4-Spout Grease Lamp

Presented here, a wonderful and rare piece of early lighting, c. 1680 - 1780.  These four spout squared crusie lamps could burn up to 4 wicks at a time.  While most examples we have seen were made to be hung, this particular example is made to stand on its three spider legs.  The standard is 26" tall (including the feet) and the pan can either sit directly on the top of the legs or can be adjusted up the standard which is 20 inches tall and has 6 levels of adjustment at 2" intervals, depending on which hole the pin is placed.

The pan which holds the fuel and wicks is of a substantial size, almost 8" across the diagonal from spout to spout.  In excellent condition, this rare lighting device would be a worthy addition to any collection of early lighting.
